Although the initial open period for the government health exchange closed on Feb 15th, taxpayers will missed that window will have another opportunity to sign up for health care. March 15th through April 30th individuals who owed tax for being uninsured in 2014 and who live in a state with a federally facilitated exchange will be able to enroll if they failed to during the initial enrollment period.
Only those who first learned of the mandate and its tax effects after Feb 15th will get extra time. This WILL apply to Michigan residents. Some state with their own exchanges will also be giving their residents additional time to enroll.
